In a meting with the nutritionist, she mentioned I shouldn't eat things with so many grams of carbs, fat, and sugar.  I think it was like 5 grams.  Does anyone know for sure?

they like you to stay under 10 grams a day - so if you eat something that already has 5 grams you will need to be careful  :)

Under 10 gr. of sugar. As for protein, fats, and carbs the goal is 40%, 30%, 30% of each a day. My math skills are terrible, and I would never have the patience to try to figure that out on my own so I use Spark people to track everything I eat and review the report and tweek my intake to make sure I get it right.

I do think the numbers are no more than 10 g per meal......

If you check .....a half of a med apple is like 8 sugar,

......3 ounces of seedless grapes are about 9 / 10 sugar..

so kind of hard to eat right and not take in more than 10 sugars a day....

so think it is most likely to be  5 to 10 sugar per meal.

Just my thoughts on this. :)

I always thought the rule was to eat things that had no more than 5-8g of sugar per serving, not per day.  Anything more that that is  a too sugary food.

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.

I have my 40% 30% 30% put into my fitness pal and follow that. (it automatically sets the rest) for sugars and such. that being said the first time i had something with sugar in it was a 1/2 cup frozen yogurt yesterday and still stayed under 12g for my entire day

My NUT told me a couple of weeks ago that each serving should be 15g of carbs or less, 10g of sugar and 5g of fat.  She said obviously it may be a bit higher here and there but to use that as a guide and when looking at nutritional info on the package to make sure you take into account your serving-they may be showing something that is a cup and you will only have 1/2 a cup so cut totals in half to calculate.

Holy cow. A lot of different answers. Now I'm really confused :). My surgery is Tuesday and I do believe the NUT will come to see me at the hospital. I will double check then. Won't get to worried about it right now. Lets get through the surgery first!
