Dove experiment on body images - very good.

Dove recently did an experiment on body image. 
Please watch it is very good and true we see ourselves very differently compared to the way others see us.

That was very interesting.  We definitely do see ourselves differently.

I found this very powerful. After you lose the weight there is a whole shift in your thinking. What do I look like as a thin person. Is the person in the mirror really me.

I will probably come out to the next meeting. I guess that will be the TWH one I developed an abdominal abscess after the hysterectomy so have been quite ill. Still really tired

Wow, I actually teared up when I watched that!  Thanks for sharing it.  The instructor in our class yesterday mentioned this video (because it's a course on teaching adults and we're going to be videotaped teaching a session and she warned us that we're all our own worst critics when we watch ourselves on tape).  I hadn't heard about these newest Dove ads (although I know about their "Campaign for Real Beauty"), and then I found your post about it this morning. 

I do have to say, though, that despite Dove's "real beauty" campaign here in North America, Dove's parent company, Unilever, is pretty hypocritical, considering that they are one of the biggest producers of skin-whitening products elsewhere in the world (particularly India and the Middle East) and they make lots of money off of making women with darker skin feel insecure about themselves because of their skin colour.  And the ads in those parts of the world are ultra racist and sexist.  Example: Fair and Lovely ad by Unilever (Dove's parent company): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIUQ5hbRHXk

It's too bad Dove's parent company doesn't think women everywhere in the world should feel good about their looks. 

But that doesn't take away from the fact that these Dove commercials are very powerful.  For me, I can't stop seeing (and emphasizing in my mind) my double-chin!
