Can you have back issues with gas? Never had back discomfort bbefore can't get through the day without a pain killer. Hurts to take deep breaths...can't get comfortable. Feel bloated and look 9months pregnant! Walking here and there and sipping water. Having buyers remorse! Does it get better? :(

havnt had BM yet. I just figure not much going in not much coming out.....

Hi Joanne,

I had my RNY on Friday the 3rd so we are only 1 day off, I too am having "back gas" pains, having to take pain killers during the day as well. I dont have the pregnancy look but that could be because of your swelling. And the same with me, no BM yet either, I had some simply clear in my water today so hopefully I will have results in the next couple days...

You're not being sucky at all, your body just went through major surgery!! The only gas pain I had post op was in my upper back and into my shoulder, it was never excrutiating, but definitely uncomfortable....but was totally gone within the first 5 days. As for the constipation go for the MOM over anything else, your body isn't able to get enough fluid to work with the powdered fibre. Just an FYI, if you're still taking the narcotic pain meds they will cause constipation.

Actually, I'm allergic to morphine so the Anesthisiologist ordered Dilauded for me instead and by the morning after surgery we discovered that I'm also allergic to Dilauded ( hives all over my arm and entire body itch ). I was offered Oxy's crushed....no thank-you, and then liquid Tylenol....a BIG no thank-you. Needless to say, Thursday night, day of surgery, was the last time I had pain meds. I have a pretty high pain tolerence, but I did use a heating pad on my upper back for a few days, and walked around a lot.

Omg, you are a brave soul!! Lol I will not complain anymore! I can't believe you haven't had pain meds! You are a trooper! I had a breast reduction and lift 4 years ago and never needed to take 1 pain killer after surgery, I guess this is why I thought my pain threshold would be a little better.

Thanks, I got the post op nausea instead of the killer pain, almost 5 weeks out and still wearing a patch behind my ear.

Joanne, did you try to go back to clear fluids and see if that helps at all? I bet a big part of the constipation is from the pain killers, try taking regular tylenol. I thought you told me that you were taking stool softeners, are they not helping?
