HRRH O/N ACCOMMODATION
Just wondering if any of you had a family member or friend stay overnight with you after surgery?
Does the hospital provide a type of reclining chair for that person? I've seen this before in another hospital this is why
I'm asking? Any thoughts on this would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

Because I had complications, my hubby wouldn't leave me. No, no reclining chair. Just one that was in the room. I was so out of it I knew he was there with me, but they in no way made him comfortable. They did say how sweet it was he stayed....but nope, sure didn't make him feel welcome.
Unfortunately the rooms at HRRH aren't large enough to handle having cots along with the post op beds, IV stands, side tables etc.....AND still have a clear path to you or any patient in that room for emergencies or for regular post op monitoring. I remember I felt like I was playing tetris with my IV pole just trying to fit both it and myself in the small bathroom!
On the bright side, I'm sure when they finish building the new (and much larger!) hospital, it will be able to accommodate having a family member stay with a patient overnight.
Thanks everyone, makes total sense. Good to know there is a motel near by.
Thanks for all the replies.
