Birth Control Pills

Hey everyone! Question - what is the consensus on taking the pill post RNY? I can't seem to locate the info in any of my packages...

Highest Weight Pre-Op: 346lbs;. Surgery Weight: 330lbs; Current Weight: 204lbs
Surgery: Aug 2, 2013

Your body won't absorb them properly post surgery and they won't work! Some people switch to depo or get an iud.

You could try the patch or the bag ring if you like the idea of the pill. Both are estrogen and progesterone like the pill and more easily reversible than depo. You don't want to do depo (the shot) if you think you might want to get pregnant in the next 2 years. I'd is also a great option as the previous post said.

My GP suggested that any type of hormone therapy may not be effective post-rny (specifically until weight levels off). He advised that a barrier method would be the best option. Depo and some internal devices are not suggested if you plan on becoming pregnant at some point.
