Just wanted to know if anyone bothered getting a private room and/or tv?

My coverage thru the military pays for tv/phone and semi private room but i've read the upgrade to private room is 40$ a night?

Thinking i'm looking at 2 nights stay post op?

Cheers

Despite having the coverage, I didnt bother asking for a private room.  The time you spend there goes so quick that I didnt even get through my book or magazine that I brought with me and I spent that valuable time reading and re-reading all the material that was given to me immediately post op.  As soon as I was able, I was up and walking around so that made time go by fast too.  You'll also be responsible for tracking how much food and water you're getting in as well as how much you pee out.  TMI perhaps but that was my experience     I was in a semi-private room and my neighbor's family were noisy so I recommend bringing ear plugs or have your ear phones for your iphone or MP3 player etc. with you.  There were a few patients down the hall that were even louder so I highly doubt a private room would have kept the noise out had I chosen one LOL!

I was at HRRH in June. Honestly I did not feel like tv, my head was so muddled up from the anestetic I could not concentrate. I did do some light reading. I shared my room, and I didnt care, 2 nights no big deal, your out early in the AM. They will stick you with the phone bill reguardless if you use it or not. You will be too buzy walking and passing gas to care about much else lmao

I got the TV, was in the ward, hated it, very noisy, but I had elderly and I mean elderly people in there and they were up most of the night.  Take your MP3 with you, forget the TV and just keep trying to move, i read some of a book but was in and out all the time.

Forget the TV -  you will be walking, sipping, napping or playing games or gabbing on your phone. I had a book with me and didn't touch it. I was in a semi at TWH as all the privates were occupied. I had no roomie unitl Day 2 and she was in for day surgery and didn't bother me the 6 hours she was there.  I hope you do awesome!!

If u can afford the private room upgrade - take it - it is great to be in a room by yourself so you won't have any issues with a "noisy neighbour" or their visitors - you won't have to share the washroom either !

Hi armyGuy, I just had surgery last friday at HRRH. I asked for a private ...didn't happen. I'm waiting for my bill to make sure iwasnt charged for one. I stayed in semi-private, it was ok. I just brought disinfectant wipes for the bathroom and it was cool. I Didn't really have time for T.V.
Wishing you the best of luck with surgery and recovery!

I also had coverage for a private room, but was in a semi because they said private rooms were used for isolation needs. I didn't bother with a tv, when I wasn't resting I was trying to sip or walk. Best of luck!!!!
