Awake At All Hours These Days!

Hi everyone, had surgery on Sept 5th and again Sept 6th for repairing a stricture.  I'm doing very well now and recovery very nicely.  But, I find I'm awake at all hours like right now I'm sending this message at 4am.  I either sleep couple hours, then awake for hours, then sleep again just short periods though.  Yet, I'm feeling just fine with that, I don't know why I haven't just collapsed and slept for hours on end.  Anyone else feel this way when you come home after surgery?  Amazing how our body works!            Cathy xo yes

Hey greeneyedgirl.  I had surgery Sept 26th and had the same thing happen to me.  I just finished week 4 post op and last week was the first week I got back into regular sleep patterns.  I think it is just we sleep so much after surgery and don't have the stress of knowing we have to get up for work in the morning that our bodies relax.  Maybe I'm wrong who knows.  Like I said I am starting week 5 and finally have reg. sleep patterns with NO naps during the day anymore.

Yes, I totally agree with you, it must be a bit common for lots of us.  I am very relaxed and I guess I will get more sleep whenever I need it.  Such a creature of habit LOL!.

Not sure if you want to hear this, I'm 3 months out and still don't sleep! Our bodies are not sure what to think!

Hey Robin, that must be hard for you.  Hopefully in a bit of time things will get back to normal for you.

If you're taking a lot of Tylenol 3, I find that messes up my sleep. Otherwise I'm hit and miss still 7 weeks post op. I would always wake up in the middle of night or have restless sleeps. Now I'm back to work I'm just tired all the time! I think our bodies get confused, but being so close to just having surgery, enjoy your naps! I never napped post-op oddly enough lol...

That's so true I'm sure, I'm taking just extra strength tylenol every 8 hours and just 1 tsp.  But, I did go out today for a bit and I think it did me good, I was quite tired when I got home and did have a little sleep.

Sleep? What's sleep? 5 days out, for me. I thought I would be sleeping and napping and I stare at the ceiling.
