A week and a half out and feel crappy

It's almost two weeks post op and i feel like I've been run over by a bus. I'm fighting a wound infection, I know for sure I'm not drinking enough liquids as I struggle to take in a liter a day. I have a headache, feel nauseous 70% of the time. I started the full liquid stage and on day one had diarrhea and my tummy rumbles on all day. I don't like yogurt, cottage cheese etc so, I usually have nothing to eat at snack time besides a glass of milk, so I'm not getting the little protein I should be getting at this stage. I feel sleepy all the time and sleep most of the day so, this is also slowing my fluid intake. Maybe I should tell the nurse when she comes in the morning to give me my IV antibiotics.

I was hoping to have a smooth ride after surgery but, alas, i guess I'm one of the unlucky ones. At this point I hope to stay out of hospital again as I don't want to hear from the family, "oh you shouldn't have done it" blah, blah, blah. I know it will get better over time. Just hope it's sooner than later.

What about protein drinks/shakes? I would suggest that you'll do better regarding healing if you're getting the protein you need. Creamed wheat?

Here's hoping you're feeling better ASAP.

I will ask Guelph if I can use them as they are not even on our food list. They kinda frown upon taking protein shakes.

I would bet that if you're not getting enough, they'd be fine with you using them. Better to get it than to not, y'know?

Try adding dry skim milk powder to your milk, it will give some extra protein.

Thanks. I already do that for my oatmeal and my milk snacks. But the snacks is where the problem is when i run out of ideas as try to find alternates for for other forms of protein besides yogurt and cottage cheese.
