Friday is my surgery day and I am just wondering about the time line. I am booked for 8 am, how long will the surgery take and how long on average will I be in recovery.
Thanks to anyone that responds.

I was booked for 8 as well. I got to the hospital at 6 am. They took me to theater at about 8:05. By the time they got some lines in, it was 8:25. I think i finally went to sleep at 8:35. I don't know the time exactly after wards but, I had no complications and my sister told me the surgeon came out looking for her at around 10 am. I was in recovery for an hour or so and when I got to the floor, I remember looking at the clock and it was around 12 pm. It depends on the individual and if there are any complications or not, if you have sleep apnea and how well you wake up after anesthesia.

Good luck to you for Friday and hope all goes well for you.

My surgery was for 8:00am as well. I was kept in the recovery room longer than normal because I had sleep apnea and was using a CPAP machine. I think was in surgery maybe 2.5 hours and in recovery for another 2-3 hours?

I just had surgery on Thursday and I went into the OR at 11:30am.  The surgeon came out to speak to my husband around 2:30pm and said I was done. I had a problem keeping my oxygen up afterwards though so I was kept in recovery for 3 hours.  Didn't get up to my room until almost 6pm. I agree, that everyone is a bit different in how well they do afterwards.

Good Luck!!

my surgery was scheduled for 11.  i got there at 9, started to get hooked up to stuff by 10.  saw surgeon at 11 who told me we would start at 1205pm.  walked in to theatre at 1150am.  asleep probably by 12pm.  i was done by 2pm.  stayed in recovery until 5pm (trouble finding a bed).  made it to my room by 5pm.

twh was like an airport control room.  quite a remarkable system for coordinating surgeries.

I was booked for 1:30 but they were late. My surgery was only 60 minutes. I was in recovery by 3:30 and in my room by 4:30. No issues.

Hey there surgery twin! I'm booked at 1030 right after you, so you better behave in there! Lol. I'm assuming that dr Sohi books the OR in 2 hr slot. I've heard as a general rule bearing no complications that people usually spend half the amount of time that they spend in the OR. I'm getting so nervous and scared for Friday. Just want it over and done with! Best of luck and hopefully we will pass eachother pacing the halls

I just had surgery this friday at HRRH and was schedules for 12. The porter came and got me from the waiting room around 11:20. I went down several came out and spoke with me, including Dr.Starr. I was taken in by 12:05 after the OR was cleaned. I was asleep very quickly.

I must admit the only part I hated was when they put the medicine through my IV to help me sleep it hurt me like hell. They said I have sensitive veins. Then they put the mask on you and I almost had a mini panic attack put could not move because the other meds had taken affect. I may have been more sensitive to everything but in all it went great and I was only in recovery for a hour.
