So I am sitting in Dr.Sohi's waiting room right now and I am so nervous I feel like I am going to be sick..... I have never had this reaction before to an appointment!! Crazy....

I hope I get a surgery date today :)

Just sit and breath. Concentrate on your breathing. Try drawing in for the count of 5, holding your breath for 5, exhaling for 5, holding for 5, and repeat.  You're having an anxiety attack (which is understandable) and this is a trick that will help you calm down.

This is a big appointment, so it's natural to be this nervous.  Just try to relax and try the breathing.

Thanks Cathy!!

All better now. Appointment is done. He wants me to do a few more tests as we are still not 100% sure if I will have the sleeve or bypass. He also said that they were given no surgery time for March and are now booking for April/May.

May I ask why he is undecided as to which procedure will be done? I meet with my surgeon a week from today. When I met him for the first visit he told me I would be having the bypass, did Sohi tell you that and now he isn't sure?

I have celiac disease and as such, the sleeve would be the best option for me however because you have to have a medical reason for needing the sleeve he needs me to do more tests. I went for an endoscopy and biopsy of my intestine but because I eat a gluten free diet the results can be skewed so he is sending me to a specialist to confirm my diagnosis from 15 years ago. He needs this to get approval from ohip to do the sleeve.

Oh ok, I didn't realize you had to have a medical reason for the sleeve. I never really researched it much as I figured the GBP would be the route for me when I did look at the different procedures, what each one consisted of and why each one was done.

I wish you all the best of luck in your testing and hopefully you get the results back and a date really soon!!

Thank you for sharing :-)

Anytime Kim, good luck to you too! I figure that I will likely have surgery in June now.... Probably summer is a better time for me to heal anyways in terms of caring for my kids.

Thank you :-)

Yes atleast then you may not have to worry about child care if you need it. Sometimes things have a way of working out for the better.
