You SURE you need implants? (pics!)

My doc and I had a long chat about this. I was once a 48H, and had huge, pendulous (below my waist!) sacks of skin with not much in them by the time all was said and done. He had suggested implants, but I was fresh outta cash and really not interested in foreign bodies-- safe though they may be, I have primary lymphedema and my body doesn't like invaders much. SO I said, well, even if I end up flat as a board, let's get these puppies offa me!

Now, I am a full 36C. The reconstruction was done very thoughtfully and aesthetically. I have no "lollipop" scar, just around the areolae. I lost literally no sensation. It's nothing short of miraculous. I am firm enough to wear halters and tank, but full enough to look feminine, and happiest of all, no more cost, time on table, or foreign instrusions!

Work with your doc, or shop around.

I don't think any of us can say we "NEED" implants but I knew I wanted them. I knew what look I wanted and it wouldn't have been achieved with the little bit of breast tissue I had left. My body has had no rejection issues and so far so good. I'm glad we have options.

Renee, I wasn't trying to talk anyone out of them--- just that *if* they aren't your style, and you think you might be able to go without (i.e. you have some tissue to spare), there's possibly options!

I might add that I think you have one of the nicest looking reductions/lifts I've seen.

Thanks, Renee. I do okay for a lowly RNYer. ;) How are you feeling?

The only issue I deal with is low iron. I don't absorb any orally so I have to have infusions but we have a heck of a time raising my ferritin even after an infusion. I just don't seem to be able to store any. I am working now with my gyno and were keeping a Nuva Ring in back to back to avoid periods. I just started that this month and I'm hoping it will help. If that doesn't work I am considering an edometrial ablation. I still push myself and go to the gym regularly but sometimes I just want to crash on the couch from exhaustion. I have NO trouble sleeping at night!

Ditto, sister...although I am not a bleeder-- I had an ablation years ago. Had 15 infusions this fall and am starting to tank again, albeit relatively slowly so I hope I can stave off the next round until Summer. I realized something was wrong when my workouts kept hitting a wall and I wasn't improving with time...saw a cardiologist, had the blood work and there it was--- the anemia in my case was kicked into overdrive by the extensive plastics and ate up all mah ferritin (which was about a 4 if I recall right.)

Which actually makes me feel a lil' better about being an RNYer--- if I malabsorb everything with all this gut, where'd I be without it? Mighta accidentally dodged a bullet there.

Hope you're feeling well. I live on spinach and steak these days (hell of a lotta good that does!)

I've gone back and forth over implants and have decided against them.  I'm used to being well endowed (even when thin back in college) and now I've got tiny little saggy boobs and it's weird.  I decided that I'll go with small perky ones over implants.  I found a PS that is also a breast specialist and he is going to do a lift with auto-augmentation.  I don't have much to use, so he thinks I'll only end up a full B, but I'm actually pretty tiny now and I think that'll be okay.  I'm also hoping that the flat tummy will make them look bigger, too.

My PS will also do some fat injections later if I want some more fullness.  And, I can always go for implants later if I decide I really want them.

Thanks for posting your pics!
