Fleur de lis TT before OR after breast reduction?

My surgeon put the paperwork through for a breast reduction a little while ago, but today I spoke with a different surgeon who specializes in LBL, and he feels I should get approved for a fleur de lis tummy tuck. Although I'm Super excited, since I thought I'd only get a pannectomy, I'm now wondering if there is a better order for the surgeries to be done since they can't be done at the same time. TT before BR, or BR before TT? I'm thinking that I don't want to get pretty perky breasts only to have them pulled down a little while later when I get the TT. Is that about right? Also, how long between surgeries is optimal so that there is enough time to heal but close enough that they can both "settle" nicely together.

TIA

Depends on where you are in Canada, but in Ontario pannis are sometimes covered, not tummy tucks. My surgeon would have done both the tt and breast work at the same time. I think its something you need to discuss with your surgeon, and of course have more than one consult.

I'm in BC, and my surgeon says he's had good success with getting the fleur de lis covered. Since the breast reduction is already in the works with another surgeon, they will be separate operations, but I'm just wondering if one should be done before the other to get optimal results.

Ah yes, see, some provinces cover these. Yay you!

I would speak with your plastics surgeon and see what they suggest, but I would still have more than I be consult. Lots of time. 😄

you should have your LBL done first, as this has the potential to change your inframammary fold position.  the amount of time between surgeries, is for the most part surgeon and patient preference.  some have them performed days apart.  I would wait till you LBL is healed-at least 6 month, then have your bleast reduction, then they can make any small revisions at the same time

If you have a specific question for me, PM me or I will not see it, as I don't check responses on the forums and don't have anything forwarded to my email.

My surgeon usually does tummy and breasts at the same time. Why can't your surgeon do them at the same time??

Because two different surgeons are performing the operations, since they are getting it covered by BC medical.

Best wishes on your approvals !  I don't think a well-done tummy tuck should pull your breasts down. Perhaps the fold may descend but the nipple position should be unaffected with proper planning.

My routine is to do both tummy and breast together as the 2 recoveries don't interfere with one another. Arms and legs also go together as a good combo since the garments for tummy and breast tend to interfere with arm and leg incisions.

Combining surgeries is always better as you have one downtime, one exposure to anesthesia, and probably less expense.
