Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

I was wondering where I could find out the information for what health insurances require for a revision surgery? Thank you

Revision on 08/16/11

I have Federal BCBS and I am in the same boat. My paperwork was supposed to be sent out last Thursday but I got a call from my surgeons office stating I had to prove that for the pervious year that I had dieted and failed.... how do I prove this? So.... I'm not sure where I stand as of right now.
I wish you luck in you journey to Revision...

I was approved in just a couple of days. The surgeon that did the lapband kept records........so he just gave me a copy to submitt. Hope this helps!!

That makes no sense. Shouldn't the doctor that did your first procedure have a record of your weight history? Were you going in for check ups and weigh ins. That information should be good enough for a approval decision.

Sexy... The person who did my surgery moved his practice from Texas to Wisconsin less the a year after my surgery. When he left none of us could find our records... No other Surgeons in my area would help any of us out. The one who would see Hahns former patience wanted $1500 up front and then $150 everytime we went for a visit. So I have had no aftercare since then.... I sent them some reciepts form Weigh****chers and Nutri system.... Hopefully that will be enough,

Look at ds facts.com!!!!! I found this link UNDER the Articles section about the BMI of over 50 requirements:

That is a REALLY good site to RESEARCH, lots and lots of published articles from SURGEONS, who have proven the insurance companies wrong with these articles.
(Meaning, the surgeons did the research, published the article, and then the patient {you and me} have had to give these articles to the insurance companies to back up your claim)
