My insurance is through my school district and they will not pay for the band removal. Can I fight that and try to get them to pay for it or it just won't happen because it is my company's exclusion, not the insurance company.

What exactly does you policy say?  Word for word?  You might be able to get around the exclusion, and you might not.  Depends on how your policy is worded.

As a rule and exclusion is just that and no amount of appealing will help. Mine is an insurance co. exclusion but that is from the employer. In fact basically they are all from the employer, the employer chooses what options they want and the ins.mco gives it to them. So unless there is a trick I never heard of you are in the same boat so many of us bandsters are in, myself included, sorry!

you original post doesn't contain enough information to answer correctly, essentially all insurance cos will pay for band removal if there is medical necessity, if you just want it out to get it out, you are out of luck, if you want it out cause you didn't lose weight again out of luck.  on the other hand if you can show medical necessity via damage caused by the band, and your band has to be removed, there is no insurance co that excluded that.  you insurance policy probably has an exclusion for weight loss surgery.  if that is the case then that has nothing to do with lap band damage requiring explantation, but you would not qualify for revision if that is the case....good luck to you

That is what I have been trying to say since the original post.  I tried a couple time but it didn't come out and I lost the post too.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.
