B-12 Shots

Is anyone else on B-12 shots. I am taking one shot once a month but it does not seem to work longer than a couple of days. I have started to take the sublingual tablets daily as well as the monthly shots because I am still very tired and get fuzzy a lot.
Has anyone else had this experience?

I have been using sublingual liquid, but it took a good month before I started feeling better. Don't use the shots so can't comment on them. You might want to gett labs done again to see if anything has improved.

Ooops I misspoke what I take is a B complex that has 1.2 mg of B 12 and you take it 4x a day. The brand name is Natures Bounty and I get it at Safeway grocery stores.

I convinced my doctor to allow me to self administer B12 once per week. My levels are normal now.

What do you mean it doesn't last longer than a couple of days?  How are your labs?  There's a whole lot more than B-12 that can make you feel tired and fuzzy.  I don't notice any appreciable difference in my energy level when I give myself my monthly shot.  My levels have always been good, but I'm always tire and fuzzy - especially an hour after I eat, because of the hypoglycemia.  Do you all mean to tell me that you feel some sort of energetic effect from your B-12?

What I mean is that for the first couple of days I felt less tired and did not get so dizzy. After that I was exhaused most of the time and was dizzy all over again. I do not see my Dr. again until August but he will only check my levels once a year so I will have to wait until March to find out how they are doing. I was B-12, D3, Iron and Thamine def. I take 2 BA D3's, 1 BA 29mg iron, 6 BA multi's, 6 BA cal chews, 1 probiatic, and I am supposed to be taking some pills to pervent gallbladder stones. I forget thoses often. I am also taking the sublingual B-12 and a shot once of month.

I get dizzy several times a day. I have not been able to keep mushies down so I do three protein shakes a day.

I think you need to go and see a regular internist or endocrinologist of some sort.  With a band, and then with a sleeve, you still have a normal digestive tract.  Your WLS is not the reason for these huge vitamin deficiencies.  You have something else going on.  Don't wait for a visit with your surgeon to find out what it is.  RNY, DS, etc., where the digestive tract is altered, are the surgeries that cause malabsorption.  You do not have an altered digestive tract.  Actually, it might be all the supplements that are making you ill.

I was doing my B12 shots every week. For  1 year my level was around 800.. another year and my levels are finally at 1100.. now I can do one every 10 days or so. I get prescription and based on my numbers - my docs agreed that once a week maybe good for me.

Not enough B12 may be a problem, but too much can also be an issue. Make sure you get your levels tested BEFORE you increase the dosage, BTW: my body could not absorb and retain much of sublingual. Some of us just can't..

When I ran out of my B12 and my doc appointment was 2 months away - I just ordered some B12 injection on the net. Not too expensive when I consider that my body needs it and I know how much I need.  (I have 3 years experience with B12 injections)  But I would not recommend buying anything off internet unless you  know you need, and even then - you need to make sure you are getting that from a good source.
