Hi Kathy,  i see yur from New Jersey Who did your band where i live in NY  but i had my surgery done in NJ  LapAssociates in Hackensack, NJ.  Anyway, the answer to your question is all up to you and your doctor i never wanted rny although i was approved for it but i didnt and still dont want my insides to be re-routed if thats a word.  I really didnt feel like i needed to do that surgery and my doctor was fine with it.  It all depends on how much work you want to put into it how much you have to lose how much you want to lose ect..  Did you have a consult with your doc yet regarding revision or r you just thinking about it..

Hi!  Ajay Goya did the lap band. I haven't seen a new surgeon yet. I just saw a spine specialist and he wants the revision. I had back surgery 3 years ago. My entire lumbar spine is.fused.to my pelvis. I can't bend my waist. Now the lower back muscles just can't hold my torso up. It gets worse every year. My back always aches. Going to make appt with surgeon, but trying to do some research first. Also have to get an MRI of my back. This is all too much. I am so depressed.

Hi Kathy, I never had a revision but I do have the sleeve & am very happy with my choice. As far as what the Dr wants to do, that's his preference, you have to find yours, after all you'll have to live with the results, not him!

Do your research, you can use the search button to read prior posts lap band to sleeve etc. It's the magnifying glass in the upper rt hand corner.

Finally take a long hard look at your previous dieting history., was you able to lose weight by just cutting back?, or was every pound a struggle? Think on why you gained the weight back, is there a emotional connection to food? If so look into therapy to break that connection.

Can you adapt to the lifestyle that the sleeve or rny requires? Some people need a malabsorptive & restrictive procedure to take off the weight & keep it off. The vitamins is a major requirement for rny'rs, it's important for vsg'rs too but I think for anyone who has a DS or an RNY its even more important because the malabsorption of vitamins is for life!

One thing I've heard on these boards is that the VSG is what the band promised to be, but the VSG delivers, the band?, well its debatable. It seems like a crap shoot, some people do very well with the band, they're just not on this site, for the most part.

Do your research, attend bariatric seminars if they have any near you. Think for yourself what you want & follow thru. Good Luck in whatever you choose to do.

What is an all in one revision?

I had an all in one revision ...my surgeon is very experienced. Some surgeons will require 2 separate.

Doesn't matter so much how experienced your surgeon is the concern is the condition of our stomachs after band removal.  Sometimes there is too much damage to proceed with a revision.

I know Dr. K. well and like her much.  Her old partner did my surgery.  I am glad I waited to heal for 6 months.

All best,

Layla

I had another surgeon remove the band.It is tough and I had a time frame for surgery. If I had to do it again I would still proceed with one step. All in one is tough but I didn't want to go under anesthesia 2x.My new surgeon is Dr.Neff .NJ
