So I have been reading a lot about going from VSG to either bypass or DS. Can anyone tell me why they would not go to a bypass from a VSG? It's impossible to find a doc to do a DS in my area or anywhere near. Thanks!

the biggest reason to go from VSG to RNY is due to post op reflux or worsening digestive issues.

VSG to DS usually has to do with improving weight loss or reducing BMI

DS is performed in less than 1% of all bariatric procedures, there are a handful of surgeons in country/world. You already have the 1st part to the DS and you have your pyloric valve with the VSG. Most have to travel for DS surgery, I had to travel 3,000 miles one way....well worth it, would do it again.

If you have a specific question for me, PM me or I will not see it, as I don't check responses on the forums and don't have anything forwarded to my email.

Hi,

I have gone from band to sleeve to RNY over 15 years. Got a band in 2003 which prolapsed after losing 154 lbs. Then I was sleeved in 2008. I had chronic GERD and hernia so I had it replaced with RNY two weeks ago. So far so good.

I managed to keep off 2/3 of my excess weight and went from morbid obesity to just overweight. It really depends on how successful you were with your surgery.

I am revising to the RNY on August 22nd. I am pretty nervous. I had no trouble with my sleeve and I have heard a lot of stories about that RNY that have me nervous. Have you had any trouble since your revision. When I had my sleeve surgery, it was almost like I never had surgery. It went so well and I had no side effects or trouble. I have GERD and a Hiatal hernia that they think will be corrected with the revisions surgery, but they felt that the re-vision of the sleeve surgery would be more risky than doing the RNY.

Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks and congrats on your success so far!
