I saw on a post I think yesterday, where someone said that seeds, such as strawberry seeds, can get stuck in our staple lines???

I find this hard to believe.  The staple line is on the outside of the pouch, right???  Anyway, I ate some chinese chicken salad that had sesame seeds.  Should I be worried????

I was told not to eat strawberries, tomatoes, or anything with small seeds.  I would think you would know by now if something was stuck.

Right...I would know, but for future reference, am I never to eat strawberries, sesame seeds, etc? ever again? I don't want to find out too late that I shouldn't have been eating them all along!

I eat strawberries and sesame seeds all the time and have never had a problem.  They're so little, I can't imagine having trouble...

Was this someone just a 'nay-sayer' spreading/embellishing an old wives tale????

I can't remember on which thread I saw it.  But, I have been worried since.  It may have not been yesterday...but it was this week.

Thanks!

Don't worry....I don't think they would give you any trouble unless you had other gastric/bowel problems like Crohn's disease, diverticulitis or IBS or something along those lines....

I was told I could eat them.  The only issue might come if you have diverticulitis.  Otherwise, as long as they don't bother you, eat them.

:) this was my post, and I think that they meant not to eat seeds so close to surgery, not that you shouldn't eat them at all.

also, re: diverticulits, seeds are what gets caught, but not the culprit. Eating lots of fiber and drinking lots of water prevents diverticultis. Not eating fiber and not drinking water cause it...

I eat strawberries, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, etc. Never had a problem, and was never told not to eat them.
