Just curious... for those who developed ulcers post-op...

I'm just wondering how many people who have developed ulcers AFTER their RNY (with no history of ulcers pre-op):
1) took NSAIDs (even just very rarely and even with something to help protect the pouch)
2) drink diet soda
3) drink coffee

I have not had a ulcer, but am wondering what the collective experience here is of those who HAVE had them.

I do all those things (and have been for 10 years) and I've never had an ulcer.

I know it's not what you asked, but thought you might be interested.

I did not do any of those things and have an ulcer. It's completely surgery related.

I developed ulcers post-op, which I never had pre-op. I do have the occasional coffee or diet Coke. I haven't taken a single NSAID.

I did have H-Pylori pre-op, which was treated, and I had a followup test (stool, not blood) that was negative.

No history of ulcers pre-op and developed them post op. I haven't had any of the three things you listed since surgery, and even before surgery the only one I ever had was an occasional ibuprofen.

 No ulcers pre-op but one post.  I drink coffee.

I took a ton of NSAIDS pre-op but none post-op and I have 3.  No soda, no coffee, no smoking or any other reason to have them. 

I did get ulcers after RNY I was never told I had them prior, I take my Nexium and I do well.

What does it feel like when you have an ulcer?

I've done all 3 since 1 year out (about 7 years)
