WLS and how does it change tattoos
hello, I am having RNY on 8-10-11 and I cant wait, but you know I was wondering how will my tattoos change, will they look all deformed and nasty? I am still going to have it regardless of what will happen to my tattoos, I was just wondering about because my sister was asking me about it. so if u all can let me know if u have had to deal with this and if u have had them removed and how that process went
I explained it to my daughter this way...get used to having that Panther look like a Sharpei...Now that was not in reference to WLS, however it was in reference to my 18 year old daughter putting a 6 inch panther on her right chest...She has not had children and obesity runs in the family, so I told her that it won't be the same when she is an old lady...so get used to the Panther looking like a Sharpei...Kind of will be the same principle with the rapid and large weight loss.
Good luck,
Jackie

I would imagine that the change in any tattoos would depend on where they are on your body. If they're in places that will suffer from sagging, loose skin, then they'll probabyl look pretty different. My only tattoo is on the inside of my right ankle and, while my legs are getting thinner, that's not a spot that has or will have loose skin. If I'd had one on my belly, we'd have a complete different story to tell! LOL!
I have a large sun mid back that has not changed at all. I got it before I gained weight though. Other than that, mine are all in places that wouldn't have mattered, ankles. I would say if you had sleeves or on your breasts, hips or thighs that it might mess them up a little bit. That is where all of my saggy skin is!
thanks for all of your advice, I have one on my leg on the outside and then i have one on my arm/bicept and I am worried about both of them I am having surgery on 8-10-11 and I cant wait, the one on my arm will probably change, but oh well, I will worry about that when the time comes, but thanks for all the advice on here
