Moving from the gastric sleeve to RNY tomorrow

Wish me luck. I'm having part 2 of my gastric bypass surgery tomorrow. One year ago, I had the sleeve done. As of today I've lost over 120lbs. I'm ready for part 2 of this long but well worth weight loss journey.

RNY on 08/19/04 with
The VSG is usually the first part of the DS, not the RNY.  Very interesting.

My surgeon does the sleeve prior to the RNY.

Is your surgeon also forming a 'pouch' out of your sleeve?
This is pretty interesting that this is done in two stages.

Oh wow! I have a few questions because I thoght of going that route. Did you loose as much as you thought you would with the sleeve? What made you decide to do the two part process?
Is your insurance paying for both procedures?

Congrats on your weight loss so far and the weight loss to come!

Hi LaToya..Thank you for the well wishes.  I honestly thought I would have lost more but I did lose about 110lbs. I'm not complaining. I am hopefull that with the rny I will achieve my goal. You can email me if you'd like more info.

It can be done in stages if the patient is a high risk with a high BMI. The RNY is done 1-2 years later provided the patient still needs it.

Thank you..you sound as though you have some knowledge of this procedure.

If you've had the sleeve done, I really don't think he's doing the rny; could you mean he's doing
the switch in the intestines?

That would make more sense.

Yes, I'm back and I did have part 2 which was an rny. I didn't pick this procedure the day before surgery. I would hope that I knew which procedure I was having done.

When I had the "sleeve" I knew it was the part 1 of my bypass with the rny to follow. My bmi was very high and I felt this was the right choice for "me".
