What do you put when asked if you have dietary restrictions?
Well, I put vegetarian. I usually don't have trouble finding something low in sugar, it usually just means I skip the dessert. I guess you could put diabetic, because even though you're not diabetic, a diabetic diet is low in carbs and sugar and similar to what we need.

I'd be surprised if they provided food on their normal menu that you were unable to eat! Just eat the protein and leave the rest - it's really easy to fly under the radar on this! I doubt you'd be able to eat a normal size meal at this stage anyway ...
If you know you want something in particular - you could just put "fish only" for example - no need to explain!
