Menopause Symptoms WORSE Since WLS

I had a total hysterectomy 11 years ago.  I do not take hormones and have not much in the way of hot flashes and night sweats.... until now.  Before I would get a hot flash or two, mostly  in the evening and from time to time and have a night sweat - about once every 6 months... now I get hot flashes throughout the day and evening - and I am having those horrendous night sweats several times a week.  It's making me CRAZY! 

Has anyone else experienced this?  Does it calm down?

I don't take hormones because I have terrible reactions to them, and my family medical history suggests that I shouldn't.

I also noticed that my temper seems to be a little shorter than usual.  I don't know if that is related or not - but someone brought it to my attention.

Any suggestions/ifo would be greatly appreciated,  Thanks.

What age are you?   What is your FSH level?   If you have not already gone through menopause it could be that you are now and may have nothing to do with your RNY ...

I am going through menopause (diagnosed with FSH level) and am having very similar symptoms to you - I think it's more because I'll be 50 in August than the fact I had RNY 8 years ago

I had a complete hysterectomy 11 years years ago, so I have been in menopause for 11 years... just haven't had such severe symptoms as I do since the WLS.

When you say that you had a complete hysterectomy, medically speaking that only means that they took your uterus. Did they also take your ovaries and tubes at the same time?

COMPLETE hysterectomy = EVERYTHING gone... uterus, tubes, ovaries, cervix.

Question for you ........... what would your lab vaule be for your FSH that would consider you in menopause?  Thanks

The lab values for menopause were 27-100.    Mine was 84.

I went into it post op RNY. Now I am on HRT - bioidentical. Could not handle the symtoms.  Expensive, but I could not function otherwise.

How far out from WLS?   Your fat stores hormones so as it melts hormones are released back out.  I already finished menopause and now have started having warm flashes.  I don't get hot hot - just sort of flushed a bit.
