Anyone used Dr. Dirk Rodriguez?

Hi! I was wondering if anyone used Dr. Dirk Rodriguez for their gastric bypass surgery? He's my surgeon and I wanted to hear from some of his patients.

I think that was my surgeon!  Well, my surgeon had the same name, but he was in Cincinnati then, but has since closed his practice and was moving out of state.  So I think we are probably talking about the same doc.

If so, he did a good job on my surgery, I think.  I liked him OK.  He gave me some bad advice about vitamins, for instance, telling me to take calcium carbonate, which we can't absorb, and telling me not to take iron.  He also told me some goofy stuff that's not true at all, like saying that drinking carbonated beverages will stretch your pouch, when that is simply physically impossible.  But I had no problems with the surgery itself and I had some issues afterward with nausea and he seemed caring and concerned.

Hi! Yes, we are talking about the same doctor....I was wondering if you had to do a pre op diet, because he doesn't use one, but I saw 3 other surgeons and they all use a pre op diet. I'm really nervous! I'm new to Texas and don't know anyone as far as surgeons go. There are no pre op classes they just give you a booklet to read, but I don't know if I should follow everything in it or what. I'm really confused.

Yeah, I was told to do a five day liquid pre op diet.  Not all docs recommend pre op diets, though.

He doesn't do pre op classes now?  When I had surgery with him, I had to go to a class.  He talked for about 90 minutes about the different types of WLS and stuff, then the dietician talked for about 90 minutes about the post op diet.
