Chicken Alfredo (picking around the noodles!)

So I found a bag of Birds Eye Voila! Chicken Alfredo skillet mix in my freezer today. I use fitbit.com to log all of my nutrients and such. Apparently I had 27 carbs in one serving, but without eating any of the noodles I'm just guesstimating it to be around 7 lol

For those of you who log their foods do you have to fudge the numbers at all when you come into a situation like this?

Also, it's kind of a minor NSV... I've always be a carboholic!! I thought once I made this I'd be really tempted to eat the "best part" in my mind. I ate all the chicken first, then the veggies (which was me trying carrots and broccoli for the first time post op and i had no problems with either.. yay!) and by the end I was full and really bummed there was no more chicken because I didn't even want to look at the noodles. Maybe I'm still in honeymoon phase of my journey, but every aspect of this post op (besides horrible initial pain at the hospital) has been absolutely wonderful!

Because of the holidays I have to delay my one month post op doc appointment...really want to start working out! Who woulda thunk I would ever say that? :P

Try to stay away from that process stuff, because the sauce can have alot of carbs in it itself, not just the noodles.  Plus alot of sodium in that kind of stuff.  It will take you awhile to change your mindset from the way we ate all our lives, but at 6 months I stay away from that kind of stuff. Keep up your protein and water and I wish you the best on your journey!!!!!  Jane

I did that all the time early on... would buy the single serving Stouffers meals etc and eat all the protein and veggies and leave the noodles/potatoes/carbs.  Worked for me!

The alfredo sauce is heavy with fat so I would pass on having any more until you are farther post op.  I know how hard it is to let anything go to waste but try to keep to the basics for now.

Our new lifestyle should be all about quality ...  Good nutritious food from good sources.   Packaged meals, unless REALLY high end, use the crappiest ingredients - it's why they are cheap!   They'll contain all sorts of strange ingredients and E numbers ...

These are not bad on an occasional basis when you are a ways out, but they are not going to give you the best protein bang for your buck.   Alfredo is also a very high calorie sauce - ok while you are in your honeymoon period but when you lose some of your malabsorption, or you get into maintenance, you'll probably have to make better nutritional choices.
