went to see and internal medicine doctor today that was reffered to me by surgeons p.a yesterday because i have been having dizzy spells for about 2 weeks now, any ways they are thinking that i have orthostatic hypertension. baisicaly my blood pressure has been droping going from laying down to sitting and stting to standing, so now i have to wear a holter monitor for 24 hours and increase fluids and salt intake.. oh fun lol
Welcome to the club!!!!
I'm going through testing now for similar stuff. My blood pressure doesn't tank but my heart rate sky rockets. Laying to sitting it went from 77 to 108 recovered to 80 and then standing shot it to 110. Next stop MRI!

Still get that. 4.5 years post op. When I don't drink enough coffee or get enough salt and water. It sucks.

i went to the hospital for passing out for something very similar. if i drink a powerade zero a day (big bottle of it), then i'm fine. if i forget for a day or two, then i'm not fine and takes me some time to recover.

Sometimes people develop POTS -

Like MM posted, I have POTS post RNY. My surgeon said its very common. It has something to do with our bodies having extra fluid/blood/blood vessels because we are obese. When we lose weight rapidly, it takes awhile for our bodies to catch up. I'm almost 2 yrs post-op. If I get in at least 100 grams of protein, 80 oz of water and get all my vitamins in, the POTS is controlled. If I get lazy, the symptoms return.
I also have the whole low blood pressure issue. My doc tried all sorts of things we actually found something that has helped: a low dose of the antidepressant, Pristiq. It has the side effect of causing high blood pressure in normal folks but raises mine enough to control most of my dizziness and fatigue issues and give me a pretty steady 85-95 over 50-60. That's a pressure that still tends to freak out some health care professionals but seems to work for me since I'm no longer very symptomatic.
