Dr Oz...Come On People, Please Wake Up!!!

Stop watching Dr Oz! He is not looking out for our health, he is looking for ratings to make himself richer! Do you realize he promotes all sorts of weight loss schemes on a daily basis and the overweight and obese people who watch his show are being given false hope.

Only one truly successful way to lose weight...be in touch with your emotional triggers and eat foods with nutritional value. If able, exercise or move around as much as possible. You need to take in less calories than it takes to maintain your current weight.

No miracle cure is out there, not even weight loss surgery. RNY and other surgeries are only a tool. It all comes down to YOU and the effort YOU are willing to put in to be successful in your life.

Thank you for pointing this out. I didn't get to almost 300lbs. by trying everything out there--there were much more serious underlying issues to deal with. broken heart

I am sorry I have to disagree with you. I have gotten many good tips from his show including a nice overview on gastric bypass surgery. Many of the weight loss schemes you are talking about are ones who have taken advantage of his name and illegally using it to promote things he does not recommend  at all they even use his picture. He has talked about it many times on his show and said what a problem it is for him. He has asked us to forward names of companies and schemes that are doing this so he may be able to put a stop to it. I don’t agree with everything he says, but much of it is helpful. Sorry.

I agree.  While I know that not everything on his show is good for everyone, I feel he is just the messenger on what is out there, why or why not they might work, and what the science behind them is - which I find interesting.  Obviously you cannot take every single supplement or do every single diet that he has talked about on his show, but the idea is if you are having a particular issue with something, you can find out solutions that may work for you.  I do not believe in my heart of hearts he is just out there to make money.

And I'll stand behind yours, Larry. Dr Oz was very wealthy before TV. He is a tertiary physician and therefore highly specialized and highly paid to begin with. I do not believe that he is plotting (scheming) to make more money by false hope. I've worked in the medical field (paraprofessional) since 1986 including autopsies, trauma hospital, public health, cardiac research and now medical skill education. I've also talked to medical professionals and the general overall feeling I'm getting from them is that he benefits people by education and opening awareness to improving one's diet and health. My own PCP said to me that Dr Oz has done a lot of good for patients. Now, if you talk about Oprah to medical professionals, you'll get a different response by some as some of her guests promote more radical or strange remedies for serious conditions. Not Dr Oz unless you got a patient believing the chain emails sent around that copy and paste his name and picture for their own greed.

I find some of his tips helpful, but I do get overwhelmed by all of the supplements he suggests that we take. It would cost a small fortune to do everything he tells us to.
