How long did you take pain meds after surgery?

I already backed down to 1 - now I am at one every 5 hours or so. Planning to go buy Tylenol liquid today. The pain tapered off quicker than expected. I am not a fan of being on meds. Thanks for your reply!

I stopped taking it after 1 week when I noticed that I was only taking it before bed. I kind of figured that was because it put me to sleep.

I stopped taking mine the day after surgery while I was still in the hospital. I never needed the script I was sent home with.

For two weeks, slowly coming off them by then.

I had terrible shoulder pain in the hospital caused by a drain.  Once that was removed and I was discharged from the hospital, I had no pain at all.  None.  I was given a prescription for Tylenol with codeine which I never filled.  FYI - Just be careful - narcotics can cause constipation.

I had surgery on same date! 2/6/13! I am still taking pain meds. Gas pains really bad tonight in abdomen, had to call surgeon. he told me to ride it out a night and see how it was in morning, still awake. I guess if they prescribe them and you are taking them - there isn't harm. After a 2 weeks, we probably wont need at all. I just wanna know when I am going to start seeing pounds rolling off!

I didnt take any pain meds post op.  The pain was there but it wasnt severe enough to warrant meds..i did get the prescription for the liquid pain medicine filled, and honestly its still sitting in my fridge unopened.

 

Then again i dont like medicine so the only way to get me to take meds is forcefully lol i'd rather deal with it..the pain was mainly gas pain and that went away after walking for about 2 days ....by day 3 the pain was only there if i laid on my stomach so to avoid it i laid on my back..by day 7 i was back at work..by day 10 i was laying on my stomach no problem

Two weeks, but that's because I pulled an abdominal muscle about a week out. Also, I was on liquid Percocet so no pills to worry about.
