Coffee???
You can have it if you want. Some people choose not to have caffeine because it can aggrevate an ulcer, interfere somewhat with the absorption of iron and calcium, cause insomnia, etc. Other people choose to have it in moderation (well, some have more than that!).
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
I have about a pot everyday. Usually 2 big cups of a morning, and 1 in the afternoon. Sometimes 1 in the evening when I get home from work.
No problems so far.

Philippians 4;6-7
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
I gave it up for about 6 months post-op, but drink it now. No problems here. Many of us drink it.

I am not a regular coffee drinker, but once in a while I do have a cup and it's never been a problem.
I, personally, put coffee into one of those "probably shouldn't" categories. I probably shouldn't drink coffee. I probably shouldn't drink out of a straw, and I probably shouldn't chew a stick of gum either. In the perfect wls world, I probably should not do these things, but in the "real" world I live in, I do and have had no ill effects.
Now, I do drink cappuccino a number of times each week. I make it with decaf, skim milk and sugar free syrup(s). I use this coffee as my "dessert" in the evenings if I'm craving something sweet. I've also never had a problem and it feels so decadently rich.
Have your cup of coffee if you have no problems...
I drink coffee like it's my job. I drink three cups in the morning and a large one in the afternoon. I would suggest talking to your surgeon about it- when I got discharged from the hospital I told my surgeon I was dying without coffee and he said it was ok to have a cup when I got home from the hospital. I was overjoyed.
Good luck!
