OK, sorry this topic was done during breakfast, but I would like to know what's going on with me. I had my RNY surgery on Jan. 21st and ever since then I have had diarrhea. Why is that? I don't feel sick at all. In fact, I feel much better than I did before surgery! Thank you for answering in advance.

Is it explosive?  Does it have a constant, unique odor?  If so, you might have picked up c.diff in the hospital.  If this does not clear up soon, I would have it checked.  I got this nasty, hospital-acquired infection when I had my band put in.

c.diff has a distinct odor all of the time.  Once you smell it, you never forget it.  It would seem that you have another issue.

I too picked up this nasty infection in the hospital when I had my surgery February 6th. It is a distinct odor for sure and yellow! Sorry maybe TMI....typically though C Diff comes with a fever and some abdominal cramping. I never developed a fever and its kind of hard to differentiate cramping just days after abdominal surgery. I wouldn't wait ...check in with your doctor if for no other reason than the fact that you are losing those fluids you need. Good luck and keep us updated!

Intestinal surgery can throw the flora out of whack.  Have you incorporated yogurt into your diet?  I found that yogurt for breakfast completely resolved my issues.

What types of things are you eating/drinking?  If you are still on liquids that might explain things (liquids in, liquids out).  If you are supplementing with protein powder/drinks, or drinking things with milk, you might be lactose intolerant.  Are you drinking enough fluids?  You certainly don't want to become dehydrated.  If it is on your plan, try eating things with more fiber.  Or, you could call your doctor for some additional help.

I had my gallblader removed in 1998 that's when diarrhea life started for me then I had RNY 11/15/04 it got worse and I still have diarrhea every day everything runs right through me,Doctor told me some people just do this,I dont have anything to filter anything any more seens galbladder is gone.

I just put up with it I have tryed everything to stop the diarrhea and the bad gas but nope nothing helps.Doctor has even tryed putting me on med's but they havent found anything to help me.

The only good thing about the diarrhea is when it stops I know I'm in trouble, because I'm pron to get intestin blockages so when I cant go poo I know I need to get to ER.

And the other good thing is if I eat something pouch dont like I give it about 5 minutes and poof it will be gone *I know TMI*
