Hi, I'm John.  I got the band about 2 years ago and lost about 60 pounds.  It has slipped 2 times so finally we decieded I would get the bypass. I'm excited and nervous.

I recently had band removed and bypass done. It has been great for me. Didn't lose much from band. Lost 36 pounds in six weeks! No reflux or choking. Good luck

Thanks! I'm really excited. Once I can get pics small enough to put up here I'll post pics.  Band saved my life but didn't get me where I need to be.

Have you also researched the VSG/Sleeve and the DS/Duodenal Switch? Now, while you still have a fairly intact stomach is the time to consider ALL your options. Read the various surgical boards, including the Revision board.

I am also going from band to bypass on the 13th.  Band was a nightmare for me.

I also transitioned from band to bypass.  I had the band placed and had it in for 2 years with almost the entire 2 years having complications.  I couldn't eat, kept getting food stuck, pain every day. It was horrible.  So finally after 2 years of having that piece of crap in me I got approval to have it removed and have the full bypass.  It was the best decision I made.  I had my surgery a year ago December and I feel great!   NO complications, lost 75 lbs so far.  I am 100% satisfied.  Follow your doctors instructions and take your vitamins.  You'll be great.

Hi John

I went from band to bypass on 12/17/2012.  Down about 35 pounds.  Would like to lose faster but my doctor warned me that I probably wouldn't.  I had my band for 7 years and my metabolism is pretty slow.  I happy with the restriction and lack of hunger (for the most part).  Now just need to get into a regular exercise program.  Would love to lose another 80 pounds but will be happy however it goes.

When is your surgery?

Hi, My surgery is scheduled for the 19th of March!  I'm finding out that the band wasn't all it was pumped up to be.

I revised from band to RNY 12/18/12.  Best decision, and I've been feeling great!  Chew well, take it slow, don't rush your stages, and you'll do fine!

Welcome!!

Lots of company here. I am band to bypass as well.

I am three weeks out.  Currently, though I am in the week 3 stall... I am very happy that I am not hungry.  I was always starving with the band. It was a 7 year struggle that got me no where.

Best of luck to you.
