Thrush post-surgery?
Hi.
I am almost 4 weeks out and I also have thrush. I am doing the swish and swallow of nystatin too. My thrush has improved a little but is still not gone. My Dr. said it usually takes about 10 days for it to go away. I will be on the nystatin for two weeks on Tuesday. I'm planning on calling my Dr. on Tuesday if its still there. I hope you have some improvement!

I had it and it took a long time to go away....it was so frustrating, I felt like my tongue was growing fur. UGH. I found that using a toothbrush (new one, that you need to get rid of after a few days) to brush on the medicine instead of swishing, worked better for me. I purchased a huge pack of toothbrushes and dumped mine every few days -- washing it with hydrogen peroxide in between -- so I wouldn't reinfect myself. I'm not even sure if it is contagious, but I recall when I was nursing my kids being told that they could transfer thrush to my nipples so I assume it must be.
I had it as well. It's very common and depending on how advanced it was before you got medicine, it can take a while. Mine took a couple weeks. My doctor gave me meds for 4 weeks and a refill on top of that. I took the 4 weeks and never did the refill, but I was just stating that because he was prepared for an eventful case I guess.

I was given a medication for it so it didn't take long to clear up. I don't remember what I was prescribed.
