I gave up coffee before surgery but on days I was dragging I would have half of a 5 hour energy or SK Energy shot. Is this something I can still do after RNY?

Please, go back to your caffeine when your surgeon allows, that stuff is very unhealthy for you, coffee or really the caffeine in coffee is 100% better for you than those type of drinks. I highly doubt your surgeon or dietician will allow those type of drinks.

I go to the Doctors (surgeons) on Monday and am going to ask. My pcp allowed them with my high bloodpressure because they are mainly vitamin B, no sugar and 5 calories, but now need to check with the surgeon. I have been off work for five weeks (surgery then took vacation) and I work 7pm to 3 am so I am going to need something to help until I get back on my work schedule.

It amazes me that any pcp or surgeon would permit anyone to drink these type of beverages.

Let me clarify-Im not referring to a Red Bull or another 16-24 oz energy drink. I'm talking about a 1 oz energy shot that has as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. I usually only drink half the shot at a time.

Yes that is what I am referring to as well. I was told to NEVER use the drinks EVER.

I'm 3 years out..

I drink SF Red Bull, 5 Hour Energy and coffee. Caffeine doesn't bother me or my stomach now BUT that said, it did. When I was about 18 months to 2 years out, I tried 5 Hour Energy for the first time and spent the next 2 hours dry heaving and foaming. It was not pleasant.
