Vitamin D3 ?
It depends on your vitamin D level. Have you had it tested?
Most post ops need at least 10,000 IU D3 a day to maintain a level of 80, which is what research shows we need.
I need to take 50,000 IU three times a week to keep my level around 100.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
You should check with your doctor before increasing your D3 beyond what is in your multivitamin. D3 is not expelled (like C and others) and can be toxic in high levels. Women (especially who are overweight and caucasian) tend to need more D3 than men. If it is a real concern for you, your doctor will order a blood test.
