I read this today..Is it true?
I'm pretty sure it's not true, unless you over-eat just like any other food. But the suggested nature of it stretching the pouch is based off the idea that beans and/or cabbage causes gas to develop during the digestion process. While the gas developing is possible, it is against the laws of physics for this gas to stay in your pouch long enough for it to stretch, you will either belch or it will pass out through your colon long before the gas has time to stretch the pouch.
The gas the comes from cabbage and beans comes from the bacteria in your gut, not your stomach. So by the time you're feeling gas from anything you've eaten, it's long past your pouch. :D Also, other folks have indicated that the pouch is created from the least stretchy part of your stomach, so as long as you don't consistently overeat, the occasional bouts of gas or carbonation won't make it swell back to the size of a football. :D

Only if you eat large amounts of them, repeatedly. Same as any other food.
