Mine was lap. Not every surgeon puts in a drain on lap RNY, just so happens mine does. 

I have a drain, and mine was laproscopic. My surgeon always does them. And though I'm only a couple of days out there has been a lot of drainage come through there. Even though I really hate this thing and can't wait to get it pulled out, I'm thinking it's way better draining out than staying in.

I didnt have a drain, but OY did I have the GAS.. WALK WALK WALK its the only thing that will get it out faster!
