Stomach growling

I'm about 28 days out since my surgery on 4/8. I woke up this morning, got ready for work and MY STOMACH GROWLED.  WTH?  Are these the nerves that I hear about waking up from the surgery?  As I'm sitting here, it's gurgling like it needs to be fed - it's not lunchtime!  For breakfast, I had a Fage blueberry greek yogurt and a mozzarella cheese stick and this morning I've had a little under 20 oz of water.  What gives?  Can anyone give me a heads up as to why my tummy is growling?

Stomach noise is NORMAL  after RNY.  Your stomach is basically a funnel.  Under-chewed, partially digested food is emptying directly into your intestines.  Your stomach is not grumbling, your intestines are.  Don't mistake the noise for hunger.  IT'S NOT, so don't feed it!  With some, the rumbling improves over time.  Most will have a "noisy stomach" forever.

Thank you.  I've been telling it to behave and just had a cup of hot herbal tea and it's settled down a bit.  Unruly gut!

Yes, I'm two years out and my stomach gurgles and is very noisey now.  I just had to get used to it, sometimes I swear I can hear the liquid going through it, it's very weird.

My tummy "talks" to me all the time. Before my surgery at some of the support meetings I heard the "vets" talk about it. I thought "thats strange" now I know what they are talking about. Mine always seems to "talk" at the most inopportune times, ie meetings with my managers, quite times with my spouse, at church during prayer time.

I'm only 2 days post-op and my intestines have been growling up a storm!

Most of what you are experiencing at 2 days post-op is air in the intestines from surgery.  That will calm down in a few days.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

Thanks Lora. Is it normal for the gas to be worse after I drink, or am I drinking too fast/too much at a time?

My intestines are rumbling/gurgling now.  I guess I will always have it, lol.  It is embarrassing at church.
