I'm feeling discouraged

It's much better to have it treated and under control prior to surgery. Just know that whatever pressure they set the machine will have to be adjusted downward after weight loss. I had to have them drop it after my first 25 then again at 50 pounds. I've been on a CPAP for 20 years so I recognized when it wasn't right. I would wake up with extremely dry mouth because the air was making my mouth open at night since the pressure became too high. So, keep an eye out for that as your weight loss progresses and talk to your doctor. Good luck!!

It actually makes your surgery more safe.  So it's a good thing that you will be on the cpap for the 6 weeks beforehand.  (I found out through the requirements before surgery and was delayed too)  It will happen.  I know it is very frustrating to work through the process.

Hang in there - from first consultation to surgery date was 18 months for me!
