As of today, I am three months post RNY (4/8/15) and I've lost a whopping 65 lbs. total (11 lbs pre-surgery and 54 post). Holy smokes!  My blood pressure is now 130/80 without meds, my diabetes is in remission, no more sleep apnea, my knees no longer hurt, and I've never felt better.  This surgery has been an absolute life saver.  I'm a little over halfway to goal!  Yippie!!

It really hasn't.  The beginning was tough trying to learn a new way of eating and making sure I got all my water in.  It was tough.  Chicken can be really nasty and I've struggled with it getting stuck and then getting sick.  Chicken has to be super moist and I have to eat super slow and chew like crazy.  I am super sensitive to sugars and sugar alcohols (I'm a dumper) so I stay away from the sweet stuff.  I do struggle with carbs.  I love carbs and they love to keep the weight on me.  I stay as far away from anything white - white flour, sugar, bread, rice and eat small amounts of potatoes (mostly sweet potatoes).  I'll do whole wheat flour in very small quantities, maybe once or twice a month as a treat. This board has been a life saver.  Everyone is super supportive and they are an incredible resource for suggestions and talking you down from the ledge when things get tough. I couldn't do it without them.  Good luck to you in your journey - you can totally do this.

Congratulations, Stevie!  You look amazing!!  We had surgery the same day.  :)  I am down 63 pounds and I have noticed the same great things you mentioned here; no more knee pain, great blood pressure, normal A1c... all that and more.  I am actually starting to feel like I can actually make this change permanent!!  :)
