Period is MIA

I'm 4 months out and my period is MIA and my hair is falling out. REALLY???  I've been deactivated so I can't have any more children so that's not an issue and I've worn wigs for years because of alopecia so I can deal with the hair loss thing. I'm guessing it's because of the surgery and resulting rapid weight loss (72 lbs) and the loss of my mom in June.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about not having the dreaded "visitor" every month, but is this to be expected?

How old are you, Stevie?

For me, I was 52 when I had RNY and my periods were normal and you could set a clock by them up until my surgery.  I have not had a single period since the operation, so the RNY put me on the menopause bench (confirmed by hormone tests).  My surgeon warned me it could happen.

GOAL REACHED! 170 lbs lost...

Corrie33, I'm 52 as well.  I'm not sad to see "it" go - I just don't want to go into menopause this young.  I know, I'll go buy an expensive pair of undies and wear them - then I'll start for SURE!  (Never fails to work!!)  LOL

Sorry, I took yours...had one for 6 weeks straight!  The hair loss usually gets better, if you mind your protein and supplements.  Pretty freaky though, huh?

I have the same issue. I have had an ablation a few years ago (and a tubal several years ago) so my GYN said not having a cycle could be one of 3 things. 1.) my body going through early menopause(blood test confirmed that was not the case) 2.)The ablation finally did it's "thing" or 3.) The weight loss threw my body for a loop and knows that now would not be a good time to get prego so it went on "lock down". I am just enjoying the break that's for sure. I had the majority of hair loss between month 4-6 and used that as incentive to get a new cut. Good luck!
