Intense mid upper abdominal pain

Hi,  I had a sleeve to GB revision almost 6 weeks ago (massive GERD).  This AM I was having my usual 4 oz oikos "zero" greek yogurt, 6 raspberries and about 1/2 TBSP roasted almonds.  Went down fine.  About 25 min later I developed the most intense pain I have ever had in my mid upper abdomen area below my ribs kind of radiated to my right shoulder blade.  Then I became nauseated and started heaving although nothing came up and then after about 10 mins it resolved???  Seriously it was to the point I was writhing and crying out in my car (pulled over!!)  I broke into a massive sweat.  I had a more mild episode last week.  I don't have a gall bladder anymore.  I see my surgeon for my 6 week appt this week so of course I will f/u with him.  But have any of you experienced anything like this?   I seriously thought with how severe the pain was I had a leak... but then it mostly resolved.  It is 2 hours later and I just feel sore now.

Any thoughts??    Thanks,  Amy

Stuck food. Pain stops when it dislodged. Feels like heart attack when it happens

Hold off on the nuts and raspberries for a couple of weeks. Most people are not allowed them until further out from surgery, so perhaps part of an almond or a raspberry seed got stuck. It is no fun when that happens. I still have problems with things getting stuck if I eat too early in the morning before I drink adequate liquids.

Nuts are very hard to get through the pouch this early and it sounds like maybe this is what happened.   I would definitely hold off on the nuts for awhile.  Stick to soft and moist foods.

Good luck!

I am not allowed raspberries or any kind of nuts at 6 weeks post RNY.  I would stay clear of both for a few more weeks.

Agree with the posters... nuts aren't allowed on my plan till 6 months out. Might cause issues.

I would try to lay off the sugars in the fruit also

Stones in bile duct? Yes. You can still have stones without GB.

Thank you all very much.   It was awful.  Now I am having bad cramping in my lower abdomen.   Uggghhh not a good pouch day AT ALL.  Looks like a protein shake kind day tomorrow.  I think it was definitely something stuck   Amy

Get checked out next time it happens... go to the ER and get a CT, ultrasound, etc.  I had similar symptoms and it was a stone in my common bile duct (and this was AFTER my gall bladder was out).

Then I had weird abdominal pain again a few months later, and ended up with a ruptured appendix and peritonitis.

I used to ignore such things.  Never again... it's too easy to blame all problems on RNY when we have so many more organs in there...
