NSV: Ran a 10:03 minute mile

I am approaching my 3 year surgiversary in December.

I am a slow runner and for YEARS (i.e. about 3) I have been trying to get to/beat the 10:00 mile mark, despite running in several 10Ks and half marathons.

Today, I ran a 10:03 minute mile!

I am so thrilled! Marine corp is coming up, I fear the gauntlet (i.e. mile 17) and beating the bridge.  Just seeing that I am getting a bit faster is really confidence building!

 

Today, I am offically a runner!

Current weight (2/27/2015) 139lbs, ~14% body fat

Three pounds below Goal!!! Yay !

Congrats skinny!! Marine Corp? Is that a competition?

im hovering around an 11 minutes when I really push myself. I find my start is slower; which is what tends to push my time closer to the 12 minute mile.

Thrilled for your NSV and really feared for you in anything called Marine Corp.   A more gentle name, Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota is almost here; maybe you'll make a trip home for that some day?  Until then, congratulations.

Awesome!! You go, girl!! I always wanted to be a runner but bad knees prevents me from ever being one. I have to stick to walking.

im very impressed! im the worlds slowest jogger/ walker myself usually i just catch up on old hbo episodes while i walk . im in vegas for a four day convention now which forces me to walk ten miles each day so hopefully ill be in better shape at the end :)

I used to be a bad/non-fast runner too (still am)!  Back when I was skinny, the first time, I could only run an 18:00.  Walkers could go faster than me!

 

But I keep working at it and DO see improvement from year to year so...

'If it  is your dream to run dont give up!  In today's Jeff Galloway running group there were 12 people in the 14:00 pace group.  12.  So, running is what you make it!
