TIRED, WEAK AND A LITTLE WOOZY FEELING... IS IT NORMAL 2 WEEKS OUT

Hi all,

I had surgery 2 weeks yesterday and it seems that now since I've gone back to work that I'm dealing with being extremely tired as well as weak and a little woozy feelings at times. Is all this normal?

TMI but i've also had a little blood in my stools yesterday and today. I think it's from straining yesterday but placed a call to the surgeon's office anyway. I'm currently waiting on them to call back, Anybody else experience this?

Thank you for the feedback,

YES, the straining....for me it was the diet and the amount of protein and little to no veggies, etc.  I started taking Benefiber, and have not had a problem since.

As for the feeling woozy and weak.  Yes. When I went into the hospital for my RNY, they found that I was slightly anemic...and then after the surgery, I became so anemic they had to give me 2 pts of blood!  And, once home, I became weak again, and my doc started me on iron. I have not had a problem since.

I am doing a blood work up next month to see if it has been handled.

So, I would definitely check with your doc.  Your body has been through so much, and you need to stay in tune with it.

Best of luck!

It is definitely normal to be tired. Woozy? Are you meaning like your going to faint woozy? Could be low blood sugar... Not sure what your health issues were before your surgery but tired is normal!  That could be a blood pressure problem. I hope your dr can answer your bloody stool question. I have to take miralax so.... That can be an issue with the surgery and new diet.

You had major surgery! It will be a while before you feel back to normal.

Blood in your stool is never ok. See what the doctor says.

It takes time...tired is normal. Woozy could be many things- low blood sugar, not enough water... my girlfriend's woozy was she needed to decrease her BP medicine by 75%. They halved it-she was still woozy, so they halved it again.

I'm 5 weeks out and still get tired and weak. I've found for me that it's almost always dehydration. My nut told me to try V8 since my sodium levels were probably low. I drink a small one when I feel that way and it always peps me up.

But definitely check with your doc, since it could be anemia.

Please make sure you are drinking enough water, I ended up in the ER due to dehydration because I was eating ice not drinking water and it felt like tha****er is very important.

thank you everyone for your replies. The doctor suggestions where much like yours.

I'm to increase my water , start adding Metamucil & stool softeners to my daily regimen. I was anemic prior to the surgery and have been on iron pills for years so he had told me to start taking them again to see if it helps with the weakness. If no improvement in a couple of weeks then I'm to make an appointment and go in. He thinks and I do agree the blood is related to the constipation issue.

Totally normal how you feel.  Try to increase water intake and work on that protein.  Remember protein first ALWAYS.  It does get better with time.  Make sure your trying to do your vitamins too.
