This is just a piece of advice from me. Stay away from alcohol. If you drank a lot before surgery. I would be very cautious.

I learned from a vet here that one thing is we need to be kind to ourselves. I know I was angry with myself for letting myself get to he point of needing surgery to lose weight.

I am so glad now I did it.

You may feel weak, down and/or depressed soon after surgery.  Hang in there- it will get better!

Once a week, make soup for dinner. Make extra then freeze it in quart size ziploc bags, lying flat overnight, in 1.5 cup serving sizes. Having this soup ready to go will make your 10 day pre surgery liquid diet much easier. I lost 22 lbs in that 10 days - and had ham n bean soup, pasta fagioli, chicken and wild rice, beef stew, chili, cabbage soup and a couple of others. I ate it twice a day, and if really hungry, had a 3rd serving.

If I could go back, I'd make even more. I had exactly enough to get me through the 10 days - but having a few for when I started on pureed foods would've been nice. The variety and chunkiness of the soups pre-op made it a breeze

Also, quit smoking now. Quit soda now.

If you have to have a drain in ( the long tube type ) in for x amount of days, Use Press N Seal ( it's like Saran Wrap that's sticky on one side ) on that incision since you'll be changing gauze on it. The nurses in the hospital where I had surgery used it, and I used it at home for 10 days. My skin got a little red and irritated, but not nearly as bad as the medical tape would have. I've heard stories about tape being realllly painful when applied over and over. If you're sensitive/allergic to that type of plastic...obviously don't use it, but it sure made changing gauze quicker and easier.

Clean the house from top to bottom - wash every nook and cranny, change all the sheets, do all the laundry - it will be a little while before you'll feel up to scrubbing the bathtub, and it's nice to heal in a sanitary place.  Plus - as mentioned above, better chances of no post-op infection.

GOAL REACHED! 170 lbs lost...

The one thing I would tell you is ......this surgery DOES NOT make you physically unable to eat foods that will make you fat!

I heard a million times that they are doing surgery on your stomach not your head, well ... I can't tell you how much this statement is true. Most people CAN eat without getting sick and some people don't feel a strong sensation of full.

You WILL stall in your weight loss and it seems as the majority of post op people( me me me ) wonder if this surgery did not work for you. YOU have to MAKE it work for you .

Oh!!! And you won't lose 100 lbs in a month lol .

oh yeah and one more I'm currently working, put your scale away and don't obsess
