What have you tried?  Are you on pureed soups?

I'm supposed to be, however everything makes me nauseated . Except the whey shakes. So that's what I'm drinking and water. Do you think I could purée a regular soup like chicken and rice?

Have you tried sugar free jello or broth?  I had a really hard time in the beginning. Nothing tasted good!

What tastes wrong? Is it stuff you liked before? I have heard that plenty of people have had their taste change since surgery. I'm 12 days post op, and my taste buds didn't change a ton yet. At this stage, all I'm allowed is fluids and protein shakes plus jello and pudding, so I am in the same boat with what I "can" drink based on surgeon's recommendations. I haven't been cleared for purees yet so haven't tried soups blended, etc.

I'm 10 days post op. It's regular stuff I liked, pudding is making me gag. I can eat jello, protein shakes & suagar free popsicles. It could just be my body being silly. When are you supposed to eat puréed?

Sounds like the stage I've read that can hit at a variety of times where your taste buds just aren't the same... if you are getting your water and protein in with the shakes, I'd stick with that and slowly phase in other soups, etc. per your surgeon's guidelines for progressing. I'm not supposed to phase out of the liquids stage until I see the surgeon for post op, which will be Wednesday. Then I expect to try some soups with lentils to add some protein. As for pureeing other soups, I'd avoid anything that has stuff like celery, rice or pasta in it, as those are on my "avoid" list. I'm SOOO looking forward to split pea soup, but will have to add protein to it as I know it's rather carby.

Yes your taste buds for some reason go on strike with certain things and then in a week or a month or a few months that food will be OK again.

Not sure what else you are allowed to have at one week out... but SF popsicles were my friend in the beginning just to have something to bite and they counted as fluid..

As well as peppermint tic tacs- sucking on one or two helped with the nausea...

1) what has your DR told you to eat? 1 week out i was on liquids and yogurt (not yogurt full of sugar and carbs).

2) have you tried Isopure or adkins for a non sweet protein ?

3) sugar free popcicles are great

4) If you have nausea, you should ask your dr for meds.
