Calorie Questions

800 is fine right now. Iwould make that my max though.

It drives me $/&%! crazy when nutritionists tell us not to track calories. That's just insane. Especially as advice to us.

Would you keep going back to a financial adviser who told you to spend money, but not keep track of it, balance your checkbook, or watch your account balance? Of course not. Those things don't take care of themselves, and neither does our calorie budget.

Sorry. I just hate when they do that.

What's worse Grim...telling people not to track calories or that they can have 1600 cals a day

Worse is telling them they can have crackers and cream of wheat.

Sort of LOL: The leader for the in-person support I attend told us 1700 calories! She had WLS previously and dropped about 175 pounds down from 425.

yikes! 1700 is maintenance level - and a pretty high maintenance level to boot! (I'd probably gain on that). This woman obviously forgot all about the weight loss phase. Odd that she leads a support group. Egad.

I know! She is a bariatric nurse and good on everything else but her bar on weight loss is set in the wrong place for most who want to lose a high % of excess weight.

Three years out here -- I gain on anything over 1100 calories. 1700 would be a recipe for huge regain for me.
