Sigh?

I was gettting a VSG up until my endoscopy came back with no hiatal hernia. I'm aware they don't remove your entire stomach. But a big part does get "....ectomied"

nothing gets ectomied in a RNY. The big resected portion remains alive and still producing gastric juices. But, and to the point of the original question, it is no longer directly connected to the esophagus.

I was actually a bit disappointed I wasn't losing that big piece of stomach. I thought it would cathartic to have this organ, that I had been a slave to for so long, be excised from my body.

I even asked my surgeon if there was a photo opportunity.

Well down the road I just hope mine stretches out to the point where I can comfortably eat a nice little piece of steak.

I can always eat 6 ounces, cooked weight, of steak. Sometimes 8, but a good chunk of that is fat, and thus little more than liquid.

I can live with that. Especially the fat part. I don't need a big steak I just need it to be good. That first bite off the end of a really good steak? Carb free liquid gold.

I'd tend to agree with Gina. I'm having some issues that I thought were RNY related, but turned out to be GYN in nature. I waited to see if it got worse and now I'm facing an open surgery in a week or two.

As a former GERD sufferer, reflux tends to burn, badly. Chest and between the ribs sounds like where it hurt me. It was painful, heavy, intensely burned and had awful belching. Sometimes I had mild nausea but never hunger.

just my two cents, don't wait for it to resolve itself. Take care of yourself.
