recovery time?

I am a teacher and could potentially (depending on insurance approval) have revision surgery from band to gastric bypass on Aug 8, which would give me 4 weeks before I would have to be up in front of my classroom. Those who have had this or only gastric bypass, what was your recovery like? I know everyone is different, but I'm wondering if that would give me enough time to get my strength up. I wouldn't have to be doing a lot of walking as I can teach from a stool if needed. My other option is take 2 weeks off before our winter break (which would give me 4 weeks total) and then a week or two after break.

Thoughts?

I can only speak for myself but I was back to work within a week ( desk job) and had no issues. However, we are all different and all heal and deal with change and pain different.

Everyone is different but I only took a week off and went back to work. Not saying it was easy, I was exhausted and I walked very slowly but it worked. I think 4 weeks would be fine except for the lifting, you shouldn't be lifting more than 10lbs for 6- 8 weeks after surgery.

I think 2-3 weeks is the average return-to-work time for non-physical labor jobs. If I could have taken 4 weeks I certainly would have though.

I think you'll be fine in 4 weeks. I took three myself, planned on two, but needed 3.

I took one week off work and then did telework for 3 weeks. I wish I had taken more time completely off because I was completely spacey for the first 2 weeks. I was also really tired, but that slowly improved. The hardest part would be managing the food for the first few weeks, but 4 weeks should be fine.

I'm a teacher and I think 4 weeks is fine! I was out for 6 weeks but that is because I'm a music teacher and I have to conduct at least a few hours a day and lift large instruments like basses and cellos, etc. so my Doctor wanted me out for a full 6 weeks before I even had the surgery. I could have gone back at 4 weeks though but the sub was in place etc.

I took 4 weeks off. I needed the 4 weeks but everyone is different. I remember the first 6 to 8 months or so after surgery being exhausted and it taking a while to get my stamina back but in time that went away. My girls were also only 6 and 4 when I had surgery so I think working full time and coming home to not being able to rest made me possibly more tired.

I took 3 weeks. I was tired when I went back, and slept a lot, but I did okay after 3 weeks. I sat at a desk all day and didn't have to deal with kids.

Thank you for your input and experience! I've heard from 1 week to 6 weeks, so I was just curious to hear from people who have had it.
