Thank you all with the exception of one for the support and understanding. As I said my life is crazy right now and due to these situations I can't go to my appointment now tomorrow. My husband has to be seen by a pulmonary specialist after the hospital told him all his tests came back fine. Instead of keeping him till the tests were back they sent him home. OH DO I HATE PENNSYLVANIA HEALTH CARE

There are a few things I don't understand. I don't think your first surgery was a failure or caused your acid reflux.

You had no aftercare for one thing. You said your surgeon left the practice one week after your surgery. Even though he was the only surgeon that did the VSG, I'm sure the other surgeons would have been able to follow-up with you, as well as the NUT in the office. If not, perhaps there were other barbaric surgeons in the area you could have seen.

You mention you still have restriction, which is a good thing.

You posted on the past you were drink coffee all day, that it was an addiction. I would think that might cause acid.

You mention the acid problem started six months ago. The surgery was four and a half years ago. And in the meantime you've had several changes in meds. Perhaps the meds are causing the acid.

You certainly have a lot going on. If you do end up having the RNY, I hope you will get the necessary follow-up care.

I can no longer take PPI's due to kidney failure. I was having terrible acid that would wake me up at night coughing and bringing up acid.

I found that a teaspoon of baking soda in about four ounces of warm drank at bedtime keeps me from having acid reflux.

I understand why you are stressed. There is no guarantee that a new surgery would resolve the issue. However, it probably won't intensify the issue either. Your situation seems pretty miserable right now, yet I think your anxiety is one of the reasons you are not seeing success. It seems like you are so overwhelmed, that you cannot take forward motion on tasks you know you need to accomplish, like stopping smoking. Are you seeing a therapist? This might be a step you take first, to help yourself get into a mindset where you are making positive choices.
