Just a warning about alcohol...
Oh sweetie, I am so sorry about the concussion and headaches. And the employment/money issues. It's so hard to not be able to afford healthcare. Also, I appreciate your courage in sharing your story. I just wanted to wish you well - I hope your headaches resolve and your financial situation imroves. Hugs!
What I think all of us WLS people need to remember is that with our surgeries we have removed/altered 85% of our stomach surfaces. One of the functions of the stomach is to filter out most of the alcohol. When we consume it post surgery 100% goes directly into our blood stream. I read on another forum one woman's story about her experience with drinking. She had R&Y and she said when she had alcohol it would hit her very quickly, get a fun 'high' then disperse just as quickly so she had an irresistible urge to take another to reproduce the quick high and would take another, then another..... It sounds like a crack addiction. So I don't know that thinking we may just be 'transferring addictions' is the only possibility here, we just may have made ourselves extremely vulnerable to the drug that alcohol is and need to know that we are playing with fire.
Having said that, I wish all you Americans a Happy, healthy Thanksgiving. Cheers!... to finding a new way to celebrate special occasions
